Light & Shadow An Artwork by Kumi Yamashita kumiyamashita.com Show image 0 Show image 1 CHAIR, 2014 FRAGMENTS, 2009 I sculpt using both light and shadow. I construct single or multiple objects and place them in relation to a single light source. The complete artwork is therefore comprised of both the material (the solid objects) and the immaterial (the light or shadow). lightdarknessobjects

The picket fence There was a fence with spaces you could look through if you wanted to. An architect who saw this thing stood there one summer evening. Took out the spaces with great care and built a castle in the air. The fence was utterly dumbfounded, each post stood there with nothing round it.
